About Wendy

wendyWendy Meakin makes her TV debut as a dealer on the current season of Four Rooms, Channel 4 Television. – in which people who believe they have a valuable artefact are given the opportunity to sell it to some of Britain’s leading dealers. But once they turn down an offer, there’s no going back.

A seasoned speaker, academic, dealer and consultant, Wendy specialises in 19th and 20th century jewellery, watches and art and other precious objects. Raised amongst a family of collectors and with degrees in anthropology and visual theory, Wendy firmly believes the history of the world resides in the things people make and hold onto and that all of us are attached to material objects.

An accomplished and gifted educator of the history of visual culture at London’s University of the Arts including Central St Martin’s, Camberwell College of Art and the London College of Communications, Wendy empowers design students to develop original ideas and articulate them verbally and visually, and overcome creative blocks in the process.

She mentors, advises and inspires individual collectors, helping them to develop and refine their personal aesthetic while building meaningful and valuable collections. Her clients range from lawyers to musicians and wealthy industrialists and span the USA and Europe.

Given her international network of design industry contacts, Wendy is regularly called upon to shape and build collections of art for large corporations, for the benefit of employees and for investment.

Wendy has collaborated with luxury houses to design jewellery collections and bespoke pieces worn by David Beckham and Elton John.

Wendy’s latest research focuses on the dangers of photography and the perennial value of craftsmanship. She cherishes her own collection of books, watches and photography and has a particular interest in mechanical items and those relating to technology.
